Members of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center - 73rd President of the UN General Assembly Maria Fernanda Espinosa, former President of Serbia Boris Tadic, former Deputy Prime Minister of Israel Tzipi Livni, former Secretary-General of the Arab League Amr Musa, former Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia Eka Tkeshelashvili, as well as Secretary-General Rovshan Muradov and Chief strategy and sustainability officer Rza Aliyev - participated in the 61st Munich Security Conference (MSC).

Within the framework of the conference, members of the Center held a number of meetings with heads of state and government, as well as leaders of international organizations participating in the MSC. Important discussions covering global challenges took place during meetings with President of Moldova Maia Sandu, Director-General of the World Health Organization Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, President of COP29 Mukhtar Babayev, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency Fatih Birol, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme Achim Steiner, former President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, former Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Fu Ying, and other heads of UN organizations.

The three-day conference brought together more than 60 heads of state and government worldwide to debate on global challenges and explore prospects.

NGIC Secretary-General Rovshan Muradov and Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer Rza Aliyev met with Jean-Claude Trichet, former President of the European Central Bank 2004-2011 and Governor of the Bank of France 1993-2004. The discussion focused on the upcoming XII Global Baku Forum.

Co-Chair of NGIC, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, was welcomed by the Director-General of UN Geneva, Tatiana Valovaya, at the historic Palais des Nations. The discussion focused on the upcoming XII Global Baku Forum and the outcomes of COP29. Over the years, NGIC and UN Geneva have developed a strategic partnership to promote dialogue, understanding, and shared societies.

The 31st High-Level Meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland, took place in partnership with the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Covering the dates of January 16-17, the Meeting brought together more than 40 distinguished leaders. It was attended by former heads of state and government, as well as leaders of international organizations, representing over 25 countries.

The opening ceremony featured speeches by the NGIC’s Co-Chair, Ms. Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga; the Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva, Ms. Tatiana Valovaya; the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus; the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin; the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan and COP29 President, Mr. Mukhtar Babayev; and the former President of Finland, Ms. Tarja Halonen.

Additionally, the Meeting addressed key global topics such as “Financing SDGs for Developing Countries,” “COP29: From Promise to Progress,” and “Health and Climate Change: Implementing Green Digital Action.” It also served as a preparatory event for the upcoming 12th Global Baku Forum.

This Meeting marked the fourth joint event organized by the Center in collaboration with the UN Office at Geneva.

NGIC Secretary-General Rovshan Muradov and Board Member Zlatko Lagumdzija, Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN and former Prime Minister, met with Guy Ryder, Under-Secretary-General for Policy at the United Nations. During their discussion, he formally extended an invitation to the upcoming Global Baku Forum and explored ways to enhance engagement between the United Nations and the Nizami Ganjavi International Center. Their conversation also addressed key global challenges, highlighting the importance of multilateral dialogue in tackling pressing international issues. They further examined potential areas for collaboration, emphasizing the significance of strategic partnerships in advancing global stability, sustainable development, and inclusive policymaking.

The Imperial Springs International Forum 2024 has been operating as a high-level platform promoting mutual understanding and cooperation on global issues since 2014.

The Forum, which took place in Madrid, Spain, on December 11-12, 2024, was attended by more than 130 political leaders, influential figures and experts from more than 40 countries, including former heads of state and government, academics and representatives of international organizations.

The event was attended by high-level government representatives from China. At the opening ceremony of the event, a message from the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping has been delivered. According to him: “The world needs to adhere to the core values ​​and fundamental principles of multilateralism more than ever.”

The forum held sessions on topics such as “Expanding Global Cooperation: Shaping a Shared Future for Humanity”, “Financing for Development, Towards the Full Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”, and “Global Strategic Stability”.

NGIC Secretary-General Rovshan Muradov held a meeting with Achim Steiner, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He expressed gratitude for UNDP’s collaboration during COP29, particularly their role in co-hosting the joint pavilion and organizing side events. The discussion focused on the outcomes and joint initiatives for COP29, as well as preparations for the upcoming XII Global Baku Forum.
