“THE CHANGING WORLD ORDER & ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR MULTILATERALISM & ITS STAKEHOLDERS”

Opening Session: "Where we have been and where we are"

The UN at 75, the Multilateral world, the liberal economic order, global trade and the rise of international communications, all have helped create the world we knew before the pandemic hit us in 2020. But there were already cracks in the system, as the USA – the chief designer, supporter and driver of the system started withdrawing from its responsibilities and its obligations. President Trump merely brought these cracks to the light. And the pandemic exposed the weaknesses that these faults created.
This opening session will share an overview of the situation, and what we can expect of the Coronavirus and the way the world may be able to overcome it and get to a better world beyond. It will provide the rationale and the basis for the whole program with five Thematic (global) Sessions and two Regional Sessions to follow.
